Nissan Recalls More Than a Million Vehicles for Air Bag Problem

Car-Nissan

DETROIT (AP) — Nissan is recalling almost 990,000 cars, SUVs and minivans in the U.S. because the front passenger air bags may not inflate in a crash.

The recall affects the Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder and Sentra models from the 2013 and 2014 model years, as well as the NV200 Taxi van and Infiniti JX35 SUV from 2013. Also covered is the Infiniti QX50 SUV from 2014.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the vehicles’ computer software may not detect an adult in the passenger seat. If that happens, the air bags won’t inflate.

Nissan will notify owners and dealers will update the software for free. The recall is expected to start in mid-April.

I’ll start the discussion. My husband and I are currently leasing a 2013 AND a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. BOTH have been having transmission issues and seatbelt/ airbag light issues since day one… Our 2014 has had the transmission replaced TWICE. I was told the seatbelt and airbag lights stay on because I weigh only 130 lbs. they have also said that they go on because I cross my legs while in the passenger seat. ALERT: DO NOT BUY/LEASE A NISSAN!!!! Want to know why they haven’t recalled the transmission problem… Because they have no idea how to fix it! So in the mean time… Drive the unsafe vehicles and keep paying the lease agreement!!!!

I just traded in my Nissan Xterra after paying a 3000 copay due to a defect that was withinn Nissans radiator that pushed antifreeze into my transmission blowing it. There was a class action lawsuit against Nissan which Nissan kept protecting its product saying it wasnt their fault. this was happening with their vehicles Nissan Xterra, Frontier, and Pathfinder with the year 2005-2010. So what was settled out of court was if you had 80,000 miles or less Nissan covered it for free, if you had between that and 90,000 you had to pay a 2500 copay if you had between 90K and 100K which I had you had to pay a 3000 co pay and if you had over 100k you were S.O.L. And to top it off it had to be done by Nissan (fixed)..so you as a Nissan owner were robbed TWICE….they made money off of their defect…I will NEVER EVER EVER drive, even RENT for that matter a nissan or recommend anyone to buy a nissan of any kind because their company does not stand behind their product 100%. If you dont believe me about this google it. This happened to me my radiator cracked and pushed antifreeze straight into my tranny….and blew it..next thing to go is the engine
