ABC Cancels Mind Games After Five Episodes

Cedric Sanders, Christian Slater

Mind Games has been canceled after just five episodes, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The drama, which starred Christian Slater and Steve Zahn as brothers who work in psychological manipulation, debuted in February to 3.6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic. Those numbers are on par with the equally dismal debuts of the now-canceled dramas Lucky 7 and Killer Women in the same time slot this season. Mind Games‘ most-recent episode drew 2.06 million and an 0.7 in the demo.

Fall 2014 TV scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren’t?

Mind Games, which was airing on Tuesdays at 10/9c, will be replaced by encores of Resurrection for the next two weeks. Celebrity Wife Swap will premiere in the timeslot on Tuesday, April 15.

The show’s cancellation follows a rough season for the network, which has also axed The Assets and Back in the Game. This is also the third Kyle Killen-penned drama canceled in its freshman season following Fox’s Lone Star and NBC’s Awake.
