Judge Allows N. Adams Regional Hospital’s Emergency Services to Stay Open For Now

NORTH ADAMS REGIONAL HOSPITAL 2NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WGGB) – The North Adams Regional Hospital Emergency Room will remain open, for now, under a court order.

The Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday that a judge has granted a temporary injunction that would allow the Emergency Room and other essential health services to continue serving patients until at least April 3.

The judge requested that the Attorney General’s Office and Department of Public Health define the emergency health services that should remain open during this time period.

Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield has been working with North Adams Regional Hospital amid the rapid notice of the closure, helping with the transfer of patients.

A hearing on a permanent injunction has been scheduled for Thursday April 3 at 10:00 AM. The Attorney General’s Office plans to seek a 90-day extension to keep emergency room services open during any ownership transition or closure.
