Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson Defends His Father's Beliefs: "I Believe What the Bible Says"

During an interview with CNN this week, Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson defended his father Phil, who was briefly suspended from the A&E series in December after making homophobic and racist remarks in GQ.

Robertson said he believed the interviewer already “had what he wanted to put” in the article and goated Phil into making those statements by “specifically asking this and that.” “Phil just said what he thought, what was on his heart,” Robertson said, though he admitted his father “did some paraphrasing there.”

But when pressed about the verse Phil paraphrased — which compares homosexuals to prostitutes, adulterers, idolaters, the greedy, drunkards, slanders and swindlers, and stated they would all go to Hell — Robertson stood by his father’s literal interpretation of the book. “I believe what the Bible says,” he declared.

“Anybody who knows [Phil] … any gay, straight, black, white, anybody who knows Phil knows that he is about love and his message is about God’s love, God’s grace and his forgiveness, ultimately,” Robertson’s wife Korieadded.
