Traffic Violation and Chase Leads Greenfield Police to Heroin Arrest

RICHMONDGREENFIELD, Mass. (wggb) – One man is now facing drug charges after failing to stop at an intersection.

Just before 3 AM Saturday morning Greenfield Police observed a Honda Civic fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Arch and Chapman Streets. When they tried to pull the car over, the driver accelerated in an attempt to elude them.

Police were able to stay with the car as it pulled into a driveway on Oak Street and the operator attempted to walk away. He was ordered back into the car by police who noticed a suspicious bag as he opened the car door. Upon further inspection the bag counted 35 packets of what they suspect was heroin.

Also inside the car was a 16 year-old female.

The operator of the vehicle has been identified as Patrick Richmond, 24 of Greenfield. He was arrested and charged with possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute, failure to stop for police, speeding and 2 stop sign violations.
