Rescuers Drag One Person from Flipped Car in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB)—Holyoke police and fire crews responded to a single-car accident on Northampton Street in Holyoke.

The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. in front of the Walgreens. An SUV was traveling down 141 at a high rate of speed, went through an intersection and hit the island, flipping on the opposite side of the street.

Four people were in the car at the time.

Holyoke Police Sgt. Philip McKay said there were minor injuries from the crash, including cuts and scrapes.

Northampton Street from Dwight to Shawmut was shut down to through traffic for about 45 minutes in order for police to clean up the scene.
