Some Rain Followed by a Beautiful Weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – There may be a little bit of sunshine from time to time this afternoon however the clouds will win out as skies go overcast. Showers and a few periods of rain will develop later this afternoon and last into the first half of tonight as a wave of low pressure pushes through southern New England.

Rain amounts tonight will range from about 1/4″ to perhaps as much as a  1/2″ in some locations.  This system will be rather progressive so rain will come to an end after midnight with skies clearing out partially before dawn.

The weekend looks terrific!  Any early morning clouds will give way to  mostly sunny skies during the day with very pleasant afternoon temperatures and fairly light breezes.  Temperatures tomorrow will reach close to 70 degrees.  (The last time we hit 70 was October 17th)

A warm front will lift through Saturday night into Sunday morning with some clouds and a sprinkle or light shower.  Skies on Sunday will stay partly to mostly cloudy but a strong southerly flow will help get readings into the lower 70’s!

On Monday the “heat is on” as skies go mostly sunny! The strong April sunshine combined with a mild air mass will shoot readings well up into the 70’s! It’s not out of the question that a few spots, in southern New England touch 80! The last time we hit 80 was on October 2nd! We have about a 1 in 5 chance of getting there. Either way it will be a beautiful day!

A cold front will put an end to the warm weather by the middle of the week.  Clouds will be on the increase Tuesday with some rain, downpours and maybe even a thunderstorm.  The timing on the rain is too early to say. Stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!
