(WGGB) — One State Trooper helped make two drug arrests in the span of about eight hours Thursday.
Mass. State Police say that around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Brendhan Shugrue went to assist another trooper who had pulled over a motor scooter on Fort Pleasant Avenue in Springfield.
An investigation during that traffic stop resulted in troopers reportedly discovering 107 bags of Heroin and three small bags of Cocaine.
Luis Rodriguez-Vega, 38, of Springfield was then arrested and charged with possession of a Class A (Heroin) and Class B (Cocaine) substances.
Then, around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Shugrue pulled over a vehicle along Interstate 91 north in Longmeadow.
State Police say during that stop, about 109 grams of Cocaine were discovered and as a result, Washington Ordonez, 26, of New York, N.Y., was arrested and charged with trafficking in Cocaine.
Arraignments on both cases are scheduled for Friday in Springfield District Court
