Two Hospitalized, One Arrested After Two Overnight StabbingsSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Two people were hospitalized, and another arrested, after a double stabbing Friday night into early Saturday morning.
According to Springfield Police, the first stabbing happened just before midnight at the corner of Dwight and Worthington Streets. Two men were approached by a third wielding a knife. He demanded cash.
One of the victims was stabbed in the abdomen during the incident. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center and is expected to be okay.
Police arrested 24-year-old Brandon Coppage on multiple counts of attempted armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
A second stabbing in Springfield happened just before 11:30 Friday night at 133 Carver Street. Springfield Police Lt. Henry Gagnon told ABC 40 the victim was a 19-year-old male. He was stabbed in the back and taken to Baystate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no suspect in this case yet.
