Screen Shot 2014-04-15 at 12.45.07 PM

BOSTON (WGGB/AP) — It was a year ago today that Boston was rocked by a deadly bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

And today, survivors of the bombing and family members of the three people who died that day are among those who’ve gathered to mark the anniversary — bringing what police commissioner William Evans hopes will be “some sense of comfort and some healing.”

Vice President Joe Biden told a gathering of about 2,500 people at a convention center near the scene of the bombing that the courage shown by survivors and by victims’ families has been an inspiration for other Americans dealing with loss and tragedy.
