Joining Forces in Song

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WGGB) – Young performers join forces with seasoned voices in a unique concert coming up in Northampton. Rehearsals are well underway for the Young@Heart Chorus’ Second Annual Intergenerational Mash- Up. The world acclaimed Young@Heart singers will be joined by the SciTech Band Friday night the 25th at the Academy of Music. It’s the second time they’ve joined forces in song. Sci Tech junior Omayra Morales calls it a once in a lifetime experience, “To collaborate with a choir that’s experienced and has been all over the place, it’s really an honor.”

Sci Tech Band Director Gary Bernice says it’s a show for all generations, “ Anybody is going to find a piece of it and any age group. Seeing students from elementary school to high school through people at the tail end of their life sharing something in common is really spectacular.”

Young@Heart Chorus member Shirley Stevens is impressed by the talent at Sci Tech, saying, “To see these young people, I mean this is amazing.”

The fabled Hyde Hyde Park Choir of the Chicago Children’s Choir and the Hampshire Young People’s Chorus will also take part. abc40 and FOX6 are proud to be the media sponsors of the concert.
Tickets are available at academyofmusic. com or call the box office at (413) 584-9032.
