Patriots Face Tough Road in 2014 Schedule
The 2014 NFL regular season schedules were released Wednesday night, launching a wave of predictions from pundits and fans alike.
The Patriots won’t play at Gillette Stadium until Week 3, but in that span, they’ll face teams who held a combined record of 17-30 last year. They’ll open the season in Miami against the Dolphins, then take on the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders.
The honeymoon ends quickly with two-straight prime time match-ups. In Week 4, the Patriots will be on the road taking on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. One week later, they’ll host the Cincinnati Bengals for Sunday Night Football in Foxboro.
The prime time action doesn’t end there. They’ll face the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football, which will be taken over by CBS from the NFL Network this season. They will return to Sunday Night Football for a second and third time against the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers.
Though five of the middle seven games of the Patriots schedule will be at home, they’ll face their truest tests. They’ll face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ahead of their bye week, then return to face the Colts, Lions, Packers, and Chargers before their three-game divisional stretch to finish the season.
Expectations are high, as usual, in Foxboro, as Tom Brady and Pats hope to return to the Super Bowl. Here’s a complete look at the New England Patriots 2014 Regular Season schedule:
