Mass. Firefighters Rescue Miniature Horse from Hole

CHATHAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Firefighters on the Cape needed to come to the aid of a miniature horse Friday morning.

Chatham Fire Capt. Nelson Wirtz says that around 6:15 a.m. Friday, firefighters were called to a home in South Chatham.

Crews arrived to find a 15-year-old miniature horse in hole that was about three or four feet deep.

“It appeared to have been the cesspool of an old septic system, the block wall could be seen on one side of the hole,” Wirtz explains.

Firefighters dug a ramp for the horse, so it could walk out of the hole.

Wirtz adds that the horse was “agitated” by the situation, but was not injured.
