Homeland Actor to Play Henry VIII for Masterpiece

He’s alive!

British actor Damian Lewis, who frustrated viewers as Nicholas Brody on Showtime’s Homeland, will next star as Tudor King Henry VIII, reportsDeadline.

He’ll star opposite Mark Rylance‘s Thomas Cromwell in Masterpiece’s Wolf Hall, a six-part series based on Hilary Mantel’s historical novel that follows Cromwell’s rise from the son of a blacksmith to Henry’s most trusted advisor.

The most loathed TV characters

The drama was adapted by Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and also stars Claire Foy, Jonathan Pryce, Joanne Whalley, and Sherlock‘s Mark Gatiss.

Wolf Hall will air in 2015 on PBS’ Masterpiece and on BBC Two.
