Flooding at East Mountain Country Club after Chapin Pond Flood Gates Opened

Sports-GolfWESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Some clogged debris in Chapin Pond in Westfield caused flooding on the golf course at East Mountain Country Club.

Owner, Ted Perez, told ABC 40 Westfield’s Water Resource Department was pulling some debris from the pond and opened up the flood gates, which were too full. It flooded several greens and fairways on the course. This happened on Thursday and on Friday, Perez said, the water seemed to have gone down quite a bit.

He said the Water Resource Department has been very cooperative in working towards repairing and replacing the damages.

The course is still playable.
