Mary McNally named New Springfield Parking Authority Director
McNally served as chairwoman of the authority and has managed the re-financing of the authority’s debt.
Most recently, she served as chief operating officer in the Hampden District Attorney’s office.
One of her biggest challenges will come when the state begins its 260-million dollar rehabilitation of the Interstate 91 viaduct between State Street and the I-
291 ramps,” That’s going to be one of the major opportunities for economic development in the downtown because we’re going to face a serious challenge. There are
a thousand parkers between I-91 South and North and they’re going to have to be re-located somewhere so we’ve got that on our radar with potential solutions to
that,” says McNally.
McNally also says the parking authority is working with the Department of Transportation in getting repairs done to the underside of the I-91 highway.
Part of that parking lot remains closed as the work continues.
In making the announcement, Mayor Sarno said,” I look forward to working with her in an increased capacity as we continue to utilize the SPA as an economic
development tool in downtown Springfield,” says Sarno.
