Roads Closed, Batter Mixed Ahead of World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Preparations are underway to mark Springfield’s 378th birthday with the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast.
A part of Main Street in Springfield is closed as crews setup tables and other things needed for Saturday’s event.
Main Street was closed from State Street to Bridge Street at 10:00 a.m. Friday. The street should be reopened to traffic by 3:00 p.m. Saturday.
There are various “no parking” signs posted and police will strictly enforce those bans.
Meanwhile. the batter is ready to go for tomorrow morning’s breakfast.
The culinary department at Mercy Medical Center mixed the batter this afternoon.
It comes courtesy of PFG – Performance Foodservice. It’s enough to fill 100 five-gallon buckets, and feed thousands of people.
Among the other donations: Friendly’s is supplying 70 gallons of syrup, Carando with nearly 1,000 pounds of bacon, McDonald’s with 40 pounds of coffee and Cabot Creamery has supplied 200 pounds of butter.
The breakfast runs Saturday morning from 8 to 11. It’s $1 for children and $3 for adults.
