“Can You Out Run The Law?” Police Charity 5k

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) –Holyoke Police pounded the pavement this afternoon in a 5K, raising funds for local charity with their annual ‘Can You Out Run The Law” race.

Each year, the squad picks a different charity to run for. This year, Holyoke Allies Youth Baseball Organization was the beneficiary.

Officers enjoy this race every year so they can give back to those who support them.

“It’s a great team work effort that without the public everything a little rougher for us. So if this gives us the ability to help make the public a better place, then that’s fine by us,” said Lt. Matt Moriarty.

About 200 people tried to beat Holyoke’s finest today.

Every runner to finish the race before the first police officer got a medal.
