Mercy Breaks Ground for Cancer Center Expansion

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Mercy Medical Center broke ground Wednesday for the expansion of a new cancer center.

The Sister Caritas Cancer Center on the hospital’s campus will provide more comprehensive care and improve accessibility of services.

The project will add 26,000 square feet of space on two levels, adding convenience for patients.

“It’s really bringing all the necessary services together on campus in one facility so the patients can receive the best care in the best setting,” explains Daniel Moen, CEO of the Sisters of Providence Health System.

The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.
