Large Hail Across Parts of Worcester County!

Dudley, Ma

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) –  Most of the thunderstorms have been off to the east of  western Massachusetts this afternoon but parts of Worcester County have been getting pounded with hail.

A cool pool of air aloft combined with a weak boundary layer have been the focal point of the storms. Because the air is so cold aloft, high in the sky, there have been lots of reports of large hail across Worcester County, eastern Connecticut and parts of Rhode Island.

Check out this photo out of Dudley, Mass. in Worcester County. The best chance of seeing a storm in western Mass would be across eastern parts of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin Counties, closer to that weak boundary layer.  However this is very little if anything going on right. Have a  nice afternoon and evening.  Just keep an eye to the sky, just in case!
