Western Mass. Honors its Fallen Heroes this Memorial Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Memorial Day ceremonies are underway across western Massachusetts honoring those who have sacrificed their lives to protect our country.

Residents have come to remember our military men and women at parade routes and to pay their respects during services at memorials and cemetery sites in their community.

In Ludlow our crew reported that hundreds came out to the parade route which started at 9:00 Monday morning on Winsor Street and ended at the memorial on Center Street.

We  also covered the parade in Easthampton which kicked off at 10:00 a.m. on Clark Street and in Holyoke as well.   The parade route there starts on Appleton Street and stepped off at 10:30 a.m. making its way to Maple Street for a ceremony recognizing our fallen heroes at Veterans Park.

Many other communities from Franklin County to Hampshire County to the Berkshires are also took the time to remember our fallen military personnel Monday.
