Springfield Man Arrested After Fleeing Wilbraham Traffic Stop

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WGGB) — A Springfield man is under arrest after police say he took off following a traffic stop.

Wilbraham Police Sgt. Edward Lennon says that around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers pulled over a car on Dumaine Street, near Boston Road, for a motor vehicle violation.

The car, however, then fled the traffic stop and headed into Springfield.

Lennon adds that Wilbraham Police pursued the car to Nantasket Street in Springfield, at which time, the driver reportedly took off on foot.

That person, identified as 34-year-old Johnny Hallums-Burton of Springfield, was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Hallums-Burton is facing charges of refusing to stop for police, giving a false name to an officer, using a motor vehicle without authority, revoked license, and other motor vehicle related charges.

Springfield Police assisted Wilbraham Police with the arrest.
