Woman Rescued Following Fall on Mount Holyoke

HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — The Western Mass. Regional Rescue Team comes to the aid of a stranded hiker at Skinner State Park.

Hadley Police tell us the 61-year old woman fell 100 feet off one of the trails on Skinner Mountain around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Rescue crews were able to help her down the mountain using a harness. However, it’s not the first rescue effort this year.

“WQe have had quite a few incidents on this trail just in the past six months, whether due to icy conditions or loose footing. There’s 5,000 acres, we have approx. 250 miles of trail, so these things happen,” explains Jesse Carter, Field Operations Team Leader for the Holyoke Range Complex.

No word on the extent of the woman’s injuries.
