State Holds Regional Discussions on Opioid Abuse Problem
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Tackling the state’s opioid abuse problem. That’s what the Mass. Department of Public Health is trying to do.
They held two roundtable discussions – one Friday in Greenfield, and one in the afternoon at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Department commissioner Cheryl Bartlett has been meeting with stakeholders and local health experts about what the state needs to prevent abuse.
“There’s not enough treatment options particularly for when people are ready for treatment, so sometimes we lose them back into the streets and using,” Bartlett explains.
The Springfield event was the sixth roundtable discussion held in the state to tackle opioid abuse.
