40 Force: Real Estate Roulette

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WGGB) — As the weather heats up, so does the western mass housing market. Interest rates remain near all- time lows, but housing prices are going up.

Monday night, the 40 Force gave you some help dealing with real estate roulette.

Pat Nolan is President of the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley. He told Dave Madsen that most people are looking to buy or build in the suburbs, adding, “the Agawams, Northampton, Westfield, Longmeadow are the places where we find a lot of sales. The suburbs are where it’s hottest, but I think that the best deals are in the city, so Springfield, Holyoke, those are the places where you can get really good deals today.”

The Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley numbers show sales rose 8 percent in April 2014 compared to a year ago in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties.

The median sales price was $185,000 – up $5,000 from 2013.
