Leominster Hammers Cathedral to Advance to State Finals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Leominster used the power of an eight run sixth inning to blow open a 12-2 victory over Cathedral in the Division I state semifinals at Western New England University on Monday. They will advance to meet Norwood for the state title at Holy Cross on Saturday in search of their first championship since 1996.

Blue Devils first baseman Brennan Cuddahy provided the big blow in a bases clearing double off lefty D.J. Petruzelli turning a 7-2 lead into a 10-2 advantage.

Cathedral finishes the season 16-8 with their first Western Mass championship since 2001.
