Agawam J.V. Coach Facing Statutory Rape Charges

Police-Arrest2

AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB) — An Agawam junior varsity coach has been charged with statutory rape.

Agawam Police Det. Sgt. Steven Grasso says that on June 4, the department’s detective bureau assisted the Hampden County District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit with an investigation, involving the Agawam High School J.V. girl’s volleyball coach.

That investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Michael Rash of Westfield, who Grasso says “the primary suspect in the investigation,” on two counts of statutory rape.

The Westfield District Court Clerk’s office says that Rash posted $1,000 bail following his arraignment on June 6. He was released on conditions including that he stay away from the victim, GPS monitoring, and abide by a curfew.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 3.

Calls to the Agawam Superintendent of Schools seeking comment have not yet been returned.

I’ve heard tons of bullshit coming out of Agawam. From constant police brutality oon elders, to this. Agawam is suppose to be a fancy-shmacy town… why does it seem like it’s fully of pieces of doo-doo?

Agawam School Administration and the Athletic Director were not doing their jobs. A 10-sec search discovered that he has been arrested before.

Negligence, possibly!? He had a record right? I dont know the whole story but thats a start!

        • lawman

They hired a coach with a criminal record, and as a result a student was raped. You don’t see the OBVIOUS liability there?

There’s a tall bridge in Gill. French King I believe. You won’t feel a thing when you hit the water.

I’m not so sure on that Kody61. Maybe you should do a test dive, and let us know if it hurts? I’ll meet you there, and give you a little push in the right direction if interested.

Statutory rape means she consented but was 16 or under. 16 and 24. Y so different than 30 and 22

    • DuCKY 508

Because at 16 she really doesnt know all that much, and is easily manipulated. At 22 you have enough experience with the workd to hold ur own. Thats why u cant drink, drive, join services, or make any other serious decisions yet.

    • DuCKY 508

You cant even really get a decent job until ur 18. If he was 24 there’s no doubt he took advantage of that young girl whether he tricked her into wanting it or not, he’s a filthy pedophile and should go to jail as a sex offender!

      • Hairy Dong

Get outta here. This isn’t the 50′s anyone. and 16yo is a woman not a girl. They are certainly emotionally more advanced too.

    • bam bam

      16=Legal bang.

Wouldnt expect anything less from that idiot
