SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Regardless of the season, the need for food assistance is always there.

That need is amplified during the summer months when some children are no longer able to receive a free lunch at school.

ABC40 and The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts teamed up Monday to collect non-perishable items during the 40 Force Food Drive.

For over 13 hours, we asked you to come down to our Liberty Street studios to drop off items and our viewers came through.

About 1,300 pounds of food were collected, thanks to you!

We also had some people stop by with monetary donations.

Thank you to everyone who came out to help make a difference in your community.

If you were not able to come down to our studios, financial donations are always needed. Just $1 can help provide three meals to those in need. For more information how to make a monetary donation to the Food Bank, CLICK HERE.
