U.S. Supreme Court Voids 35-Foot Buffer Around Mass. Abortion Clinics

Court-Abortions

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has struck down a 35-foot protest-free zone outside abortion clinics in Massachusetts.

The justices were unanimous Thursday that extending a buffer zone 35 feet from clinic entrances violates the First Amendment rights of protesters.

Chief Justice John Roberts says authorities have less intrusive ways to deal with problems outside the clinics.

And what about the mental and physical safety of these women using the clincs? 35 feet is still close enough for protesters to be audible and visible to anyone entering or leaving, but it leaves the workers and women using the clinic feeling like they won’t get beaten, hit or god knows what else. We balance public safety against freedom all of the time in this country. Sometimes safety comes before rights. In my opinion they got this one wrong.

The supreme court is bought and owned by the lunatics who want to shred the rights of women. Funny how it is illegal to keep them away from abortion clinics yet when occupy protests peacefully the thuggish police, who also are owned by the same entities, went in and brutalized protesters. That is OK I guess. They were protesting wall street, the 1% and fighting for the rights of the rest of us. Remember this when you go to vote, they own the Tea Party which is represented in the lunatic fringe of the Republican party. They are financed by the 1% and any Republican who is not extreme enough stands to have a well financed opponent as the Tea party takes over.

Are you aware that the Supreme Court justices have a Protest buffer zone LARGER than this 35 feet zone they just did away with? The SCOTUS is a joke.
