Man Hit by Car in West Springfield Received Life-Threatening Injuries

Police-Pedestrian killedWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — West Springfield Police are investigating a car versus pedestrian incident that sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening.

West Springfield Police Captain Thomas Wilkinson told ABC 40 the accident happened just after 5:00 p.m. in front of the Central Chevrolet car dealership on Memorial Ave. The victim, who was identified as a male, was transported to Baystate Medical Center. He received injuries to his right leg, arm and some head injuries, which were considered life-threatening. His identity is not being released.

An Accident Reconstruction team was dispatched to the scene.

The driver was cooperative with police and remained on scene after the accident. No charges have been filed yet and the accident is still under investigation.
