Two Men Indicted on Charges Related to Deadly I-91 Crash

(WGGB) — Two Springfield men have been indicted in the death of a city teenager last November.

Police say 32-year-old Joel Nieves Cruz and 43-year-old Rafael Perez Jr. were moving a couch when the cushions fell off on I-91 North in Longmeadow on November 10.

A Jeep, driven by 17-year-old Skyler Anderson-Coughlin, swerved to avoid the cushions, struck a tractor-trailer, and burst into flames, killing the teen.

Both men are charged with involuntary manslaughter. Cruz, who was driving, is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

Arraignment is set for next Wednesday.
