Goshen Fire Department Taking Part in ‘GMA’ 5 Alarm Firefighters Challenge
GOSHEN, Mass. (WGGB) — A local Fire Department’s contest video submission may go national.
Volunteer firefighters in Goshen created the video as part of Good Morning America’s “5 Alarm Firefighters Challenge.”
They were required to use the song “Safe and Sound” as recorded by Capital Cities. The men and women in Goshen choreographed the routine in one day.
They have been selected as semi-finalists and now hope to be one of the top featured on GMA.
“My 18 year old daughter came up with the ideas for most of the video and choreography for most of our great dance moves and it was her artistic talent that helped put it together,” explains Susan Labrie, Goshen’s Fire Chief.
“As part of the submission we had to send in to explain to them what we would do with the 10 thousand dollars up for grabs if we won the contest. Our department has chosen to outfit our recreation room with physical fitness equipment and part of the reason for that is that the vast majority of firefighters who die each year, die of cardiovascular disease,” says Goshen Volunteer Firefighter, Bob Labrie.
The Goshen Fire Department made the announcement today on their Facebook page today. They are expected to find out this week if they move on to the Good Morning America finals.
