Storms Hitting Massachusetts, Severe Threat Continues Through Early Evening

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – The humidity will continue to increase this evening as the “triple H” weather returns. Several severe storms have clipped northern Franklin County and moved into eastern Massachusetts. Some heavy rain has cooled the southern Pioneer Valley, though the threat for severe weather exists for a few more hours. Most activity will shut down an hour or so after sunset after the heating of the day goes away.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will feature more heat and humidity with the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.  A cold front will dry things out later in the week but until then high pressure off shore will keep pumping in the humidity which will increase the likely hood of storms.  Temperatures will be reaching into the upper 80’s and lower 90’s through Wednesday with dew points remaining well up into the 60’s.

A cold front will move through either late Wednesday or early Thursday and in it’s wake drier more refreshing air will arrive for the end of the week and the start of the weekend.
