Registered Level Three Sex Offender Charged with Child Abuse

miguel morales sex offenderLUDLOW, Mass. (WGGB) – A Level Three sex offender is wanted on several counts of child abuse.

A warrant was issued for Miguel Morales of South Hadley; out of Palmer District Court Wednesday after family members of a friend of his heard he poured hot sauce in the mouths of two young girls as punishment. He’s being charged with three counts of assault and battery on a child with injury.

Morales was staying with a friend in Ludlow and was allegedly punishing the two-year-old and nine-year-old daughters of that friend, said Ludlow Detective Alison Metcalfe. The family members became concerned when they heard these claims and went to police. An investigation was initiated and afterwards, police in Ludlow and family members of the children were informed Morales was a Registered Level Three Sex Offender in the town of South Hadley. Detective Metcalfe said no one was aware he was a sex offender because he was untruthful about what he had been to jail for.

According to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, Morales was convicted of several counts of rape of a child in 2010. He was recently released and is on probation for seven years following his sentence. His probation has several conditions, including not being unsupervised with any minors and maintaining his registration as a sex offender. Morales violated this when he stayed for several consecutive nights in Ludlow at this friend’s home and failed to register in the town.

A Hampshire County Superior Court judge ordered Morales be held on $10,000 bail for probation violation charges. He will also have to answer to assault and battery charges in Palmer District Court.

He will appear in Hampshire County Superior Court in September.
