Strong Storms Tear Through Western Mass Leaving Damage, Power Outages

virginia aveWEST SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — Crews in West Springfield are working to clear several storm-damaged areas throughout town.

Police said they were very busy with storm damaged areas and had several trees and wires down. A large tree limb is down on Route 20 near the Westfield line. Also, on Virginia Ave. a tree has fallen into a house. People were inside at the time, but there were no reported injuries. The National Weather Service also reported large limbs down on Little River Road, along with a large on a home on Ambrose Street and wires down on Prospect Ave. and Hunters Place.

Police said they are also responding to power outages in the area of North Boulevard and Route 20. WMECo outage maps shows over 220 customers without power in West Springfield.

In Springfield Police Captain Trent Duda said there were several trees and wires down throughout the city. WMECo outage map shows over 200 customers without power in the city.

In Agawam, nearly 350 customers are without power.

Other areas reporting damages include Ludlow and Longmeadow, according to the NWS.
