Kitchen Fire breaks out at 17 Woodside Terrace in Springfield

springfield fire picSPRINGFIELD, Mass (WGGB) —  The Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire at 17 Woodside Terrace Saturday at 12:36 p.m. When crews arrived on scene they found a kitchen fire on the 3rd floor caused by unattended cooking.

The third floor of the building suffered $35,000 in damage and is unlivable.

The first and second floors of the building sustained minor water damages. Commissioner’s Aide Dennis Leger says it’s hard to tell whether the families can go back yet because the water is affecting the electricity flow. The electric company will be looking into this as soon as possible.

No one was injured in the fire and it was extinguished quickly.

The Red Cross is assisting the two displaced families as they get back on their feet.
