WESTFIELD. Mass. (WGGB) — Those living near Barnes Air National Guard Base may soon experience an increase in nighttime noise from flights.

104th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Manager Senior Master Sgt. Robert Sabonis says that the unit will be conducting evening training flights over the next two weeks – beginning Tuesday, July 22 and running until Friday, August 1.

Those flights will leave the base between 4 and 5 p.m.

Sabonis notes that, “These missions are a critical part of our required reoccurring training. The night-training is required to ensure our pilots are ready to respond to any airborne threat in the Northeastern United States, at any time, in any condition.”

During the training period, aircraft are expected to land between 8:30 and 10 p.m.
