Police Seek Suspects in Overnight Shootings

oak street shootingSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Springfield Police are looking for suspects in two shootings that happened overnight.

The first occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sumner Avenue. Police were alerted to the incident by the Shot Spotter system. When they arrived on scene they found two suspects on the porch.

When police told them to leave, one of the suspects pulled out a revolver and attempted to bang down the door. That’s when a third suspect appeared at the side of the house and began running and shooting toward the back.

The suspects fled the scene in a black SUV.

A short while later, just after 1 a.m., police were responding to a home invasion on Worcester Street, where an 18-year-old man was reportedly cut in the finger by a woman whom he knew. While on the way, they heard shots on Oak Street.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a suspect shooting at a 24-year-old victim. The suspect fled the scene.

There were no injuries reported as a result of either shooting.
