RedSoxLogoST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — David Ortiz’s three-run home run helped the Boston Red Sox end a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

Ortiz’s 25th home run came off Chris Archer in the third inning after a walk and Dustin Pedroia’s infield single. The loss ended the Rays’ nine-game winning streak, their longest in 10 years and second-longest in franchise history.

Desmond Jennings drove in the Tampa Bay’s runs with a double off Boston starter Allen Webster in the third.

Webster (1-0) pitched 5 1-3 innings in his major league season debut, giving up two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out four.

Koji Uehara pitched the ninth for his 21st save, striking out the last three batters.
