Tornado Touches Down in Central Connecticut

CT TORNADOWOLCOTT, Conn. (WGGB) — The National Weather service confirmed that a weak tornado touched down in central Connecticut, as storms moved through the region on Sunday afternoon.

The tornado was classified as an EF-0 tornado, with wind speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. The tornado spanned more than half a mile, but only touched down briefly in Wolcott.

Authorities say it was making its way towards Wolcott High School, as it began to dissipate just before 1:00 p.m.

While no injuries were reported as a result of the storm, the tornado brought down several trees and power lines in the area.

Much like Western Mass., that area is at risk for possibly severe storms on Monday morning as well.
