bluesox2013MONTPELIER, Vermont (WGGB) — The Valley Blue Sox weren’t able to hang on to two separate one-run leads in their 4-3 loss to the Vermont Mountaineers on Tuesday.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Mountaineers strung together a single, a stolen base, and another base hit.

Frank Crinella answered for the Blue Sox, getting a two-run single to left in the fifth.

Valley threatened again in the seventh, when Garrett Blacka nd Kevin Barker once again got on base consecutively. However, Black was called out trying to score at home. Barker was able to score.

Vermont answered, however, and scored two in the eighth inning.

The Mountaineers got their second-straight win, as they maintain their hold on first place in the division. On the other side of the coin, the Blue Sox dropped to 13-24 on the season, sitting 11.5 games behind Vermont.

The Blue Sox will play in Danbury on Wednesday, before returning home on July 31st.
