Man Violently Resists Arrest after Allegedly Destroying Property
Anselmo Alonso, 39, of Chicopee is in custody facing several charges, including defacing public property and resisting arrest.
Police got a call from someone at 112 Bay Road, saying that Alonso drove his car into their backyard and then broke the rear door of their house off its hinges.
While officers were examining the scene, they got another call about an erratic operator pulling into the Whole Foods parking lot in Hadley. That driver turned out to be Alonso.
Police found him there and placed him under arrest. While searching his car, police found a small amount of marijuana and a throwing star, which is classified as a dangerous weapon.
However, once Alonso was in the cruiser, he began trying to kick out the back windshield. Officers then tried to put him into shackles to get him under control.
He tried to fight with officers and was brought to the ground. A third officer helped secure the suspect and get him back into the cruiser.
Alonso was taken to the Hadley Police Department for booking, when he pulled a wall hanging out of the wall and broke a thermostat cover. He also attempted to spit in the officers’ faces.
Alonso is charged with three counts of Injuring or Defacing Real or Personal Property, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
