Andy Samberg's Lonely Island Teams with Judd Apatow for Movie

The Lonely Island, best known for memorable Saturday Night Live digital videos like “Lazy Sunday,” “I’m on a Boat” and “D— in a Box,” has signed on to produce and star in a Universal movie co-produced by Judd Apatow, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The recording trio, which has released three studio albums, features Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.

Few details about the project are known except that it’s based in the music world and that Schaffer and Taccone will co-direct. Schaffer previously directed Samberg’s first starring film role, Hot Rod, as well as The Watch. In addition to his recurring role on Girls, Taccone is also known for directing MacGruber, episodes of Parks and Recreation and Samberg’s current series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
