Large Grant Aims To Prevent Youth Arsons
EASTHAMPTON, Mass (WGGB) — An important non-profit, aimed at preventing youth from starting fires, received a major grant from Columbia Gas of Massachusetts Friday. The company presented a $5,000 check to “No Fires.”It is an education and intervention program that works with kids under 18 who show a tendency to set fires.
Organizers say such a generous donation is key to keeping kids in the program and the community at large safe.
“A lot of families that need our program don’t have the money to pay for it so it’s important that we are able to continue the program with these funds,” Executive Director of No Fires Loren Davine said.
The money will be used to pay for instructors and screeners that meet with families in their homes.
