Box Office: Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy Fight Off Expendables

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy were once again the top two films at the box office this weekend, Box Office Mojo reports.

Turtles stayed at No. 1, bringing in $28.4 million in its second week, down more than 50 percent from its debut. Meanwhile, Guardians held on to the No. 2 spot with $24.7 million, bringing its total haul to $222.3 million.

The comedy Let’s Be Cops starring New Girl‘s Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. came in at No. 3 with $17.7 million in its first weekend. The film has earned $26.1 million since its release last Wednesday.

The best summer movies ever

The Expendables 3 opened soft at No. 4 with only $16.2 million, followed by fellow newcomer The Giver at No. 5 with $12.7 million.

Into the Storm ($7.7 million) and Hundred Foot Journey ($7.1 million) fell to No. 6 and 7, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10 were Lucy (No. 8,  $5.3 million), Step Up All In (No. 9, $2.7 million) and Boyhood (No. 10, $2.1 million)
