Two People Transported Following Four Car Crash in Longmeadow
LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) — Two people were taken to the hospital following a multi-vehicle crash in Longmeadow.
Longmeadow Police Capt. John Stankiewicz says that just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the intersection of Bliss Road and Laurel Street following a report of a crash involving several cars.
When crews arrived, they found three cars that sustained heavy damage, and one that had minor damage.
Stankiewicz adds that one driver was taken to Baystate Medical Center with what appear to be serious injuries, while another driver was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The two other drivers and their three passengers were evaluated by paramedics on-scene and refused treatment.
The intersection was closed for several hours while police investigated and worked to clear the scene. That area was reopened to traffic around 3:20 p.m.
Stankiewicz explains that “the initial investigation determined that one of the vehicles ran a red light,’ bu adds that the crash remains under investigation by Longmeadow Police, with assistance from the Mass. State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
