Traffic Alert: Resurfacing Work to Begin on Several Holyoke Roads

ABC40Alert-TrafficHOLYOKE (WGGB) — Several streets in Holyoke will be under construction starting Thursday, as the Department of Public Works prepares roads for paving.

Crews from Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming, Inc. will begin removing asphalt from sections of these roads. The repaving process will then begin on Wednesday, August 27th. The repaving work is expected to last up to a month.

The DPW is warning drivers to be aware of any parking restrictions and find detours around these roads if possible. It’s not clear whether all the roads will be immediately effected when the work starts on Thursday, but drivers should be aware in teh coming days.

The $880,000 resurfacing project is funded through Chapter 90 State Highway Aid to cities and towns. The following is a list of roads that will be affected:

Whitney Ave. — from I-91 to Lower Westfield Rd.
Gordon Dr. — from Whiting Farms Rd. to end.
Whiting Farms Rd. — from Northampton St. to Sullivan Rd.
Longwood Ave. — from Northampton St. to Martin St.
Hillcrest Ave. — from Martin St. to E. Promenade
Michigan Ave. — from Westfield Rd. to Downing Ave.
Pleasant St. — from Appleton St. to Highland Ave.
Magnolia Ave. — from W. Franklin St. to end.
Beech St. — from W. Franklin St. to Hampshire St.
Chestnut St. — from Appleton St. to Dwight St.
Sargeant St. — from High St. to Commercial St.
Mosher St. — from Bowers St. to Canal St.
Vadnais St. — from Northampton St. to George St.
Central Park Dr. — from Mountain View Dr. to end.
Lindor Heights — from Easthampton Rd. to end.
Discol Lane — from Lindor Heights to end.
Woods Ave. — from Francis Ave. to Hillside Ave.
Main St. — from Prew Ave. to Anderson Hill.
Apremont Hwy. — from Westfield Rd. to Dupuis Rd.
