Red Sox Catch Fire in 11th to Beat Blue Jays 11-7
After taking a 4-4 tie into the 11th inning, both teams combined for 10 runs in the final frame. It was 7 runs from the Red Sox in the top of that inning that secured an 11-7 victory.
The win is their second-straight extra-innings victory against the Blue Jays, the first of which snapped an 8-game losing streak.
Every member of the Red Sox lineup got a hit in this game, including Yeonis Cespedes, who went 3 for 6 with an RBI.
Dustin Pedroia hit a home run for the second-straight game. Before Monday’s game, Pedroia had only hit one home run since June 19th. his 4 RBI fueled the Sox, while Mike Napoli and Allen Craig added homers of their own in the 11th.
Pedroia helped the Red Sox give starter Rubby De La Rosa a 3-0 lead in the first, but the Blue Jays would eventually chip away. They got a run in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th inning to tie the game.
The teams traded runs in the 7th and then went scoreless until the 11th.
