Springfield Police Arrest Two Men on Drug Charges
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Two men are under arrest after police say they were allegedly were dealing Heroin on State Street in Springfield.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that on Wednesday afternoon, detectives conducted an investigation that led them to the Day and Night Convenience Store on State Street.
Those officers reportedly saw two accused drug dealers “make a large Heroin transaction and interrupted the their deal,” Delaney adds.
Police moved in arrested 29-year-old Jamie Lopez of Rochester, N.Y. and Jose Figueroa of Springfield. Both are facing charges of possession of Heroin with intent to distribute, violation of a drug-fee school zone, and conspiracy.
Investigators reportedly seized 300 bags of Heroin from a nearby vehicle, as well as $1,600 in cash.
These arrests come just a day after police made three other drug-related arrests.
“In the past two days, the Springfield Police Department Narcotics Division has taken over 600 bags of Heroin of our streets,” explains Delaney.
Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Springfield District Court.
