JT’s Sports Pub In Springfield to CloseSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — JT’s Sports Pub in downtown Springfield is closing its doors.
The popular restaurant and bar informed its customers on Thursday of the news.
Located within walking distance of the Mass Mutual Center and Springfield’s Business District, JT’s sports pub has been a hot spot in Springfield for tourists and locals.
“I have come here once a week for the past couple years,” says customer Kyle Sullivan.
“It’s where everyone goes; it’s a good time,” says employee, Nicki Jones.
Open for lunch, dinner, and drinks, JT’s a common place to watch the game, go out after work or celebrate an event.
But now the sports bar is suddenly closing after 11 years on Main Street.
“It’s a sad day for us and Springfield, unfortunately we will have to close our doors,” says owner, Keith Makarowski.
The lease has expired on the building and a new agreement can’t be negotiated with the landlord.
“He’s got bigger aspirations with the casino coming, so he thinks he’ll get better cliental from here on out; I wish him the best of luck,” Makarowski adds.
JT’s final day open will be Saturday.
